Relevant because...

I read an article about the Rwandan Patriotic Front (15000 men) battle strategy against the Forces Armees Rwandaises (50000 men) in 1994.  Sections would disperse and set up behind and on both sides of the FAR, leaving the front seemingly unguarded.  Of course, the FAR surged forward on the escape route only to find that the RPF was also stationed in front.  It is called envelopment strategy, wherein the enemy is immediately demoralized and in a panic at being surrounded and can be picked off easily.  Sufficient bush cover means that the surrounding troops don't hit each other but only the target.

I thought this was a strategy learned from Jurassic Park but it wasn't.  It is, however, the answer to why such a miniscule army defeated a massive army without hardly any casualties.  If the FAR had prepared, demanded discipline, and promoted based on merit, it could've had a chance.  Sometimes no army is the best army.

oh my god I want to do a phD sooooooooooooooooo bad.
